Notification of COVID-19 or exposure policy*

Effective January 7, 2022

Athletes and staff who are feeling ill should not report to practice.

Athletes or staff of Shen Rowing who test positive for COVID-19, or who have been notified they have been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, should notify the board President, as soon as possible.

As per New York State regulations, COVID-19 positive individuals, regardless of vaccination status, should isolate for five days OR until you are fever- free for 24 hours, without use of fever reducing medication.  Individuals should continue to wear masks around others for an additional 5 days beyond the above.

Per New York State guidance, individuals who are not fully vaccinated, or fully vaccinated and eligible for a booster but not yet boosted and have been exposed to someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 are required to quarantine for 5 days after exposure and therefore should not attend practice.  Additionally, these individuals should wear a well-fitting mask while around others for an additional 5 days.

Asymptomatic individuals who have been fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 do not need to quarantine, but should wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days after exposure to COVID-19.

Asymptomatic individuals who are fully vaccinated and not yet eligible for a booster are also not required to quarantine. They should wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days after exposure to COVID-19.

Notification to membership of an athlete or staff testing positive for COVID-19 will be made by board President or Vice President, via Parents Band. Prior to returning to practice, staff and parents or guardians of athletes must confirm with the board President that the New York State guidance was followed.

*This policy is subject to change at any time according to updates by New York State or at the discretion of the Shen Rowing board of directors. This policy is in addition to the vaccination policy implemented on March 6, 2022.
